Charles Foster diary photographs, 1835-1853.

Black and white copy prints of drawings Foster included in the diary he kept beginning with his voyage across the Atlantic in 1835 and continuing through 1853. Many are illustrations of river scenes and steamboats. Among those which are identified are drawings of the Ohio Belle steamboat, a view of the New York Bay from Yonkers, N.Y., the 1840 presidential campaign of William Henry Harrison, and livestock. Forty color and pen and ink plates accompanied the original diary.
